The pool of the Hilton Hotel Zamalek have a spectacular view over the Nile, and is one of the cheapest pools you´ll find in Zamalek (200LE) which makes it an exellent day-time pool if you live on the island. However, as the tall hotel building is situated to the east of the pool, youll find the pool area in shade from early in the afternoon. This is of course worse in the darkest months of the year, but in July-September it is still possible to find sun around the pool until 3pm.
The pool is relatively shallow, which means that the sun heats it up quite quickly and makes the water a pleasant temprature. In the corner of the pool you´ll find a small round jacuzzi area and next to the main pool is a shallow pool for babies. The pool-side food is decent but definitely not worth the price, and the selection spans from mezzas to western inspired sandwiches and salads. On the other hand the cocktail menu is quite elaborate and most of them can be aquired for around 85LE incl. tax.
When you are done reaxing at the pool, try out the Japanese restaurant Makino on the ground floor of the Hilton. This is one of Sweet Cairo's absolute favourite restaurants in Cairo.
Tip for saving money: If you live in Cairo and want to use the pool on a regular basis it might be worth buying 10 visits for 1800 LE/single or 2600LE/couple, which means that you can technically use the pool for 130LE/person if you pair up with a pool buddy.
Cost per person: 200 LE for non-hotel guests day-pas including locker and pool towel
