The Cataract Pyramids Resort in Giza is unfortunately not any longer the best pool deal in town, since after we meade the first review they decided to indrease the price to 175 LE. However for this price you still get access to the large basin, a pool towel, lunch and a soft drink. The speakers from the Flintstones-like pool bar blast out 90s classics by Celine Dion, George Michael and Mariah Carrey and the waiters frequently stroll by to make sure you have everything you need.
The pool is not (yet) very well known amongst the regular expat crowd in Cairo, who usually prefer to drive 15 min further down the Sakkara Road to Sakkara Country Club, which means that you only have to share the pool with the few tourists staying at the hotel. The sunbeds are comfortably cushioned and the surroundings are clean and well-kept.
There is a free lunch included that you can choose from a limited menu. The food is standard mediocre pool food and the menu comprises the classic pizzas, salads, sandwiches and pasta dishes that you will find in all pool bars around the world. The lunch comes with a free soft drink of your choice and the pool bar also serves reasonably priced beer, wine and juice.
For good or bad, The Cataracts Pyramids Resort allows people to wear clothes that aren’t swimsuits in the pool.
Cost per person: 175 LE for non-hotel guests day-pas including lunch, soft drink and pool towel
